Word Play features the visual essays that Millman created for her books Self-Portrait As Your Traitor and Look Both Waysand from her collection of Happy Greeting Cards she designed for MOO. “Since so much of my illustrative work is word-based I thought it would be fun to deconstruct the art I’d created, to be able to infinitely reconstruct new sentences,” says Millman, “They can be mixed and matched in any number of ways to create different conversations.”

Millman’s eccentric and beautiful typographic essays have been called “visual poetry” by Cool Hunting, and said to be “… a memoir with the profound, universal resonance of philosophy on our shared human triumphs and tribulations” by Brain Pickings.

Each designer for The Luxe Project selects a charity that is close to his/her heart, to receive 100% of the net proceeds from sales of the collection. Debbie has chosen the Joyful Heart Foundation as the charity to receive 100% of the net proceeds from sales of her collection. “I chose the Joyful Heart Foundation because I believe in its vision – a community with no sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. The foundation’s mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors. I’d like to do everything I can to support the efforts,” says Millman.
